Make identity a purchase condition
Reishi is a trade name, not enough to identify every Ganoderma material. Obtain the supplied species, fruiting body or mycelium declaration, growth substrate and processing history. Ganoderma lucidum on a catalog page does not establish the identity of a future batch.
Do not equate polysaccharides with beta-glucan
Ask what the total polysaccharide test measures and which reference standard it uses. Request a separate beta-glucan method and clarity about alpha-glucan, starch and residual substrate. If triterpenes are part of the brief, define their method too. Extract ratios alone do not replace these measurements.
Read a COA as a batch record
Match product identity, batch number and specification revision. Check units, method references, actual results and limits. Clarify which values were measured, calculated or reported by another laboratory. Agree contaminant testing relevant to the growing and extraction process before release.
Approve the application as well as the paperwork
A beverage needs bitterness and sediment evaluation; gummies need gel and uniformity testing; capsule blends need flow and density data. Use the actual process and packaging. A certificate or compositional assay cannot establish sleep or immune effects in the finished product.
Questions to include in your RFQ
Send destination market, intended format, processing conditions, ingredient exclusions and sample needs. Ask for a current specification, batch-specific COA, full composition and risk-based contaminant testing. Specifications and availability are indicative until confirmed in writing; agree acceptance criteria and change-control terms before purchase.
